Bourbon Update: Its Summer Again
[Search engine optimization and Online marketing] It looks like the update included a backlink update and focused on adjusting the treatment of poor quality links, with off-topic or low quality reciprocal linking being penalized. Google also appears to have made changes to their duplicate content detector, which has been reported to now erroneously pick up original sites as duplicate content in some cases.

There is some evidence that reciprocal link pages may be discounted, but that may be a side effect of the possible links.htm filter as well. Blogs contain many reciprocal links, but seem to have suffered no ill effects, either in backlink totals or in PageRank loss.
[Realwebresults.com] Real Web Results Blog - Producing and Promoting Websites For ...: The first method is the one that allowed some sites to survive the "Florida" update - and that basically involves having very many other sites link to you and not link back to them so you basically have one-way links and not reciprocal links. These sites do have links pages and did exchange reciprocal links - lots of them - but their own links pages are not indexed in Google or do not actually reside in the same domain as their website. Also in some cases the links themselves can't be followed by search engine spiders because of the scripting used so they are not reciprocal.
