Diller: Ask Jeeves Might Get New Name

http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog [Search Engine Watch Blog] Ask.com would seem to make sense. Instead of searching for an answer, one would "ask" for an answer. How polite.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[Estatelegacyvaults.com] Estate Legacy Vaults Blog: March 2005 Archives: make your company more profitable, grow faster, or get your product more rapidly adopted. They are a kinder, gentler, more polite and therefore more effective way to reach people who matter to your company.

[Estatelegacyvaults.com] Estate Legacy Vaults Blog: Blogs are changing everything Archives: The power of a networked meme shared by ordinary people changed governments in the past year.  In Georgia, the students said "Kmara" -Enough and the Rose Revolution began and resulted in honest elections in March.  In the Ukraine, it was "Pora" - It's Time and the Orange Revolution began with free elections last December.  In Lebanon, the Cedar Revolution with its "Independence 05"  banners mostly ended Syria's occupation.  Free elections in Iraq and Afghanistan were unthinkable a few years ago.  Everywhere people are speaking freely, many for the first time.  Free Iraqi blogs with a banner, "I was not living before the 9th of April and now I am, so let me speak".    What we thought was not what people in their heart of hearts hoped for and wanted.  The Arab Street is quite different from anything we had been led to believe and is now a vanquished cliche

http://blog.searchenginewatch.com [Blog.searchenginewatch.com] Search Engine Watch Blog: March 2005 Archives: "We have chosen the new name Think Partnership Inc. because our Company is a collaborative partnership of entrepreneurs and proven business leaders who are demonstrating innovation and execution in some very exciting Internet sectors. Ben Jennings and I, and the dynamic entrepreneurs who lead our operating companies -- Pat Martin of WebSourced; Scott and Kristi Mitchell and Paul Widisky of Cherish; Steve Thanhauser, Lewis Finch and Greg Cox of MarketSmart; and Rick Anderson of Ozline -- are deeply committed to building our Company based upon the principles of decentralized management, collaboration and mutual respect among partners, aggressive growth both internally and via acquisitions, the delivery of highly professional services to our clients, and profitability for the mutual benefit of our employees and shareholders. We want our future merger partners and employees to 'think partnership' in every aspect of our businesses, so we have adopted that mantra as our new corporate name."

[Blog.aqute.com] Aqute Market Research: Times writes tabloid article on Google VOIP: The times article on Google VOIP is complete speculation, presented as if there was a solid story behind it. Google may or may not be launching VOIP but The Times has no evidence that they are doing so. I would guess Elizabeth read some comments on a blog (Battelle, probably) and thought she would pre-empt the Google announcement. She has no quotations from Google spokespeople, instead using insinuation such as "Although Google is reluctant to talk about its plans .

[Dowire.org] Social Software Blog | Democracies Online Newswire - DoWire.Org: Barry continues to build his ‘clicks sans bricks’ empire. And inthis NYT article John Battelle saysthat he thinks Diller made a great deal and that: “Search is the mortar between the bricks.”
