[*michael parekh on IT*] ON NEW DATING SITE WITH TAGS AND TAGGING IN GENERAL: To be fair to Consumating, most tagging companies are guilty of not putting in a search box on the home page in this Tagging 1.0 stage. For example, try to search for a tag off the home page on del.icio.us, or Flickr, or most of the others...go ahead, I dare you). The best you can do on all these sites is to find a list under lame tags like "popular", etc. Some like Technorati and Furl do give you a search box on the home page, but they're not specific just to tags, but index and web results from their sites in general.
[ - Search Engine Journal] Ask Jeeves, IAC - More Deals on the Way?: In an environment where the paid search players/ad networks include Google, Yahoo!, MSN, AOL (partly Google) and now, potentially, IAC/Ask, you have to wonder whether there will be a move to consolidate those networks/engines that are not in the top tier. There isnt room in the market for many more than this (except to serve niches).

[ - Search Engine Journal] Domain Names: A Sneaky Attempt To Take My Name: By now I wondered how my name, ~~~~fix.com*, which I made up, could be so important. I did some quick research on the Internet and found there was a company in Germany with the name ~~~~fix. It was starting to aggravate me that if someone wanted my dot com version of the name why didn’t they just make me an offer for the name. It seemed awfully suspicious that someone wanted that name so badly that they would try to transfer it when it was plainly up for sale.

[Dmehus.blogspot.com] Doug's Blog: New meta-search engine IceRocket reviewed: As well, of note, IceRocket is being loudly promoted by Broadcast.com founder and outspoken Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, as John Battelle mentioned. It was unclear at the time this blog entry was published whether or not Cuban holds an equity stake in IceRocket.
[Dmehus.blogspot.com] Doug's Blog: August 2004: As well, as AOL said in a press release, they plan to redesign the web-based user interface of AOL Mail to make it more streamlined, faster, and easier to use (similar to that of Mailblocks). The improvements will be phased in over a short period of time and will also enable AOL members to control the "challenge/response" technology, which works by requiring all senders of e-mail messages to answer a question only humans can answer (since 99% of spam is automated and sent by machines) unless they are on the customer's pre-authorized "whitelist" of senders, through AOL "Mail & Spam Controls" but also through their webmail service. Parents can also control their kids' spam through AOL "Parental Controls".
[Researchbuzz.org] IceRocket Has Some New Searches: I presume it's an ad, and if it's an ad it SHOULD BE MARKED AS SUCH. Underneath it are the results, providing post title, snippet, and source, and three nifty little links that allow you to focus on that 'blog in your results, exclude it from your results, or subscribe to its RSS feed. And speaking of RSS feeds, there's a feed for the entire IceRocket results page out to the right of the results. A couple of switches at the top of the page, under the query box, allow you to restrict your results to a certain time period.
[Searchenginewatch.com] Metacrawlers and Metasearch Engines: This site is primarily designed to demonstrate classification technology from Infogistics. It's a meta search engine, and it does topical classification of results, like Vivisimo. However, it is unique in that you can select several different topics, then "drill down" to see results from all of them, rather than being restricted to the results from only one topic.
