Chris Brauer Media Project [BLOG][Chris Brauer Media Project [BLOG]] I installed it on my web server, changed the permissions on the files (666 for sitemap.xml and 775 for phpsitemap.php), and ran the script. I picked the directories and file types I wanted to exclude from the sitemap output and it generated a script that was subsequently submitted to Google through the script. I followed up at Google and submitted my sitemap.xml file myself. This is useful as you can track status (my submission is currently pending);

[ InsideGoogle - part of the Blog News Channel] Why Doesn’t Google Sitemaps Use RSS?: Many publishers, despite the benefits, would say no to RSS pings because they don’t want RSS (not an idea I agree with, of course). They are against RSS because of the control it gives up. Google wants everyone to use Sitemaps, it figures it can avoid any anti-RSS feelings some publishers have by using something else. If Google can avoid using RSS, it can get those anti-RSS publishers to sign up anyway.
