[View from the Isle - Professional Blogging & Blog Consulting :: Main Page] A little while ago Susie wrote a nice post about the need for a blog mentor/coach/editor to help improve your blogging--Get a Big-Picture Person. Many...

[Poop and Boogies] Turd Tag: My son Maxfield has taught me a lot about what my parents meant when they did or said certain things. So Poop and Boogies is the name of my blog. Is there a better name than when it comes to dealing with children?I have a beautiful wife, Lauren, a dog Luna and two cats, Bogart and Winnifred. We are relocating to Orlando FL.
[World O'Crap] World O'Crap: I agree with Susie's way of thinking. I don't have a tip jar (mostly because I have enough income to manage my frugal life style, and figure that guys must have your own problems, and if you don't, you must know of better causes to which you could donate any spare cash -- but also because I don't want to lose my amateur standing and be disqualified for the Blogging Olympics). But if I did get some donations to fix a broken car or something, I wouldn't pay taxes on them unless the government promised to stop using the money I already gave them to send Bush from town to town to try to sell fake audiences on his social security plan, and could guarantee they would use the funds for something less stupid.
[Hoarded Ordinaries] Odds & ends: I loooooved *Housekeeping*--I've read it umpteen times & teach it in my American Lit of the Open Road class--so I've worried a bit that *Gilead* would be something of a letdown. It's good to hear, though, that Robinson's kept her chops, and I'm sure I'll blog about it when I allow myself to read it as a post-grading treat. :-)
[ETHEREAL CODE] Hullo--it's me: Long time no post, fellow blog-babies. No excuses except to say I been busy. How you been? Well I'm glad to hear that. State of the Blogosphere lets us know that many many people have blogs... to choose from. I just copped a shitload of them today. Some of my favorites are Dale Hawkin's Susie Q
[feminist blogs] Estrogen Month - Day 22 All the “rules” of Estrog”¦: Well see, here's the thing that, for me, differentiates blogging from comics fandom. With blogging, we arrived onto the scene at pretty much the same time as the guys did, so we have as much right and credibility as they do to define the terms of debate, and of what constitutes a valid or popular blog. And particularly on the left-liberal end, every male blogger who bemoans the lack of liberal (blog) voices in the mainstream media debate then turns around and ignores women (liberal bloggers) deserves all the derision or consciousness-raising (depending on your style) that we can muster. (And that goes double for any guys who ignore the blatant creeps who leave sexist comments on their blogs; if you have an open comments section, it's up to you to maintain it, and to be conscious about what kind of an atmosphere it fosters.)

[Blog.larixconsulting.com] View from the Isle - Professional Blogging & Blog Consulting ...: When I was with pharma we were testing and deploying portals. Idea being, give employees a central, personalized location for information delivery. The problem with a portal is that most information doesn't change that much day to day. If the company picnic is June 17th, that isn't going to change. HR's policy on tank tops and sandals isn't going to change either. The end result, because the portal appears stagnant, people stop visiting. Sure you can force people to use web-based systems for expense reporting, etc. Fine, but day-to-day information needs will be fulfilled elsewhere. This is the beauty of RSS, it's more passive. For example all employees, by default, are subscribed to key feeds from HR, Corporate info, IT, etc. Then employees choose what interests them. So if they want a daily update on the cafeteria menu, cool. If not, fine. Regardless of the choice the employee, the employee just has to have the RSS app running and the data comes to them. Don't get me too wrong, I think simple corporate portals are a good thing, but companies that marry their whole information dissemination strategy on them will be sorely disappointed. Likewise relying solely on e-mail. I don't know how many hundreds of corporate e-mails I just wholesale deleted with only the barest glance at the subject. Not good. And yes, I did miss important e-mails from upstairs because once you get your 20th moronic, useless corporate e-mail in a day, deleting the 21st feels justified.
[Blog.qumana.com] Qumana Blog :: Why MSN Spaces and Yahoo360! won't dominate the ...: Like any activity there are hobbyists and professionals. Their choice of tools differ greatly. A hobbyist will usually start off with less expensive tools with fewer features, maybe lower quality as well. But as hobbyists become more serious about their pursuit and start on the path of becoming professionals, they start upgrading. Blogs are really no different. People might start out with MSN Spaces, Yahoo360, or Blogger, but wind up with Blogware, Bryght, or Typepad when they are ready for the power, flexibility--like your own domain--, and features. T.L. also describes it correctly that the intro services will be great for people who are journaling--is that really blogging, I don't know--and in my opinion if that gets kids to write more, I'm all for it.
[Lustylady.blogspot.com] LUSTY LADY: Mainly, if you don't identify as straight or gay and would like to talk about where/how you fall somewhere in the middle or outside of those labels (you can be anonymous if you want), I'd like to hear your thoughts for a column I'm going to try to write for sometime in June. You can email me at blog at rachelkramerbussel.com and feel free to pass this along. I know it's open-ended, deliberately so because I want a range of people. I have plenty of female contacts in the not-straight/not-gay realm, but would love to hear from guys along the sexual orientation spectrum who have thoughts on this, whether you're straight and get mistaken for gay (or vice versa), want to try being with a guy or girl for the first time or have fantasized about it, or anything along those lines.
[Irreconcilablemusings.typepad.com] Irreconcilable Musings: Defending the Blogosphere Front in the War ...: The blogging community has been monitoring the situation as well. Little Green Footballs, also impacted by the attack, has the most comprehensive coverage with this post and its comments. There are also posts from Power Line (here and here), Inoperable Terran (here and here), Captain's Quarters (here), and The Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler (here). Even Instapundit (here) was down (and there were great cries of withdrawal and gnashing of teeth).
