SEO Files > Why Seth Godin Doesn’t Like CEO”¦ Maybe

Greedy Girl[Greedy Girl] I have no idea if this is why Seth Godin doesn’t like SEO. It is, however, a pretty accurate list of why I don’t do SEO.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

http://www.stuntdubl.com [ Stuntdubl Internet Marketing Consulting] Why I Think Seth Godin Doesn’t Like SEO: If they don’t want to work hard, measure, and document the metrics for improvement and success, then I am not real excited about helping them. Since SEO is developing into project management it is important for an SEO to be able to rely on all people and resources for maximum success. A lazy businessowner that doesn’t take care of his/her clients appropriately, or starts relying on SEO as the sole means of driving their business is only going to ultimately cause problems (when something like a “Florida update” comes along), and their faults are going to reflect negatively on the SEO.

SethGodin is talking about Google AdWords, landing pages and SEO... get your copy of "Knock-Knock, SethGodin's Incomplete Guide to Building a Web Site that Works" here... on Seth to provide a very strong, very useful strategic view. Now he is applying his thinking

http://www.stuntdubl.com [ Stuntdubl Internet Marketing Consulting] Personalized Search and Trustrank - Death to Link Based Algorithms: If you are focusing ONLY on link development and gaining business from top search engine listings, I urge you to diversify you methodology (at least include some PPC campaigns to hedge your bets and collect data). There has been a cottage industry that has risen from the potential spoils of a successful SEO campaign. A small company ranking atop the SERPS for a highly searched, highly relevant phrase can make that business successful. Some stumbled across that fact (many then turned into “SEO’s”), and some got there from a lot of hard work and diligence on performing what was important to an SEO campaign.

http://www.stuntdubl.com [ Stuntdubl Internet Marketing Consulting] Calling Cards, and Condos, and Cows”¦ Oh My!: We weren’t looking for self affirmation, though I’m sure there were a lot of aspects to everyone’s business that WERE affirmed by what he had to say. I was excited during the first bit of the day when Seth showed everyone Technorati and Bloglines. Was a bit bummed that I hadn’t put in my technorati tag that morning as usual because I was in a hurry, but that was self-affirming. Having Seth suggest that we put a skull and crossbones on our website was a bit extremist, but made me think about the public perception of SEO and how misunderstood it can be.

[Stephan Spencer's Scatterings: Web Marketing Blog] Optimal blog posting frequency: Unique commentary, I believe, is key to the value proposition. Last week for example I blogged about “how to search engine optimize your podcasts” - something I believe has not been adequately addressed by bloggers. This I’m hoping will get some coverage in the blogosphere because of its uniqueness. “News blogs” can get away with less unique and practical posts than “writers blogs”, but they tend to make up for it with volume - increasing the frequency.
